Twice a quarter I am on a conference call for +8 hours (multiple techs patching multiple servers).
Both times I have done this since getting Vonage I have gotten knocked off twice during the night. I did not pay attention to the time length as I had other things on my mind. I would guess somewhere around 4 hours.
I have not been able to find anything listed in the Vonage help pages.
Has anyone else experienced this? Anyone know if there is a published call time limit?

I will check time limit.
I have cell phone with free unlimited nights starts at 7:00pm and vonage free too. I could test upto 11.5 hrs.
I will post results later |

The posts last week seem to enforce that there is some sort of 4 hour time limit. One poster said that Vonage did not want their service to be used as a baby monitor.
here is the post link

Vonage does terminate outgoing and incoming calls after 4 hours. Four hours may seem excessive to some people but everyone has different needs and if one cannot make, or receive, a 4 1/2 hour call, that is not unlimited. Surely someone at Vonage is familiar with Blockbuster. I will be cancelling my account. |

Another reason why they might be terminating the line after 4 hours is because sometimes lines get hung. In other words, your phone line could be tied up 24 hours a day if it was crossed, or if there was something holding onto your line that you could not clear. This 4 hour disconnect could be a precautionary measure used to ensure no calls are hung up in the system for hours on end using up their system resources.
I think 4 hours is a reasonable time to issue a disconnect. It is still unlimited - just warn the party that after a 4 hour conversation (which is quite unbelievably long) that the line may disconnect and you will have to call the party back.
It should be no big deal. Obviously if you have time to spend on the phone chatting for 4 hours, you should have time to call someone back. I know some people like to chat, but seriously after 30 minutes you probably said all of the important stuff.
Just my observation. |

Your observation is exactly why I inserted that everyone's needs are different. What is no big deal to you might be to someone else for reasons which obviously don't affect your life. Unlimited means there are no limits....period. |

Yeah but its not very professional if you are on a business conference call and 4 hours into it you need to interrupt because your phone company will only let you talk for 4 hours. What happens if you are the one hosting it using 3 way calling and you have to disconnect everyone because vonage won't allow a call longer than that.
It reminds me of my teenage years. My parents set a time limit for my sisters to be on the phone. Somebody better email Mom and Dad over at vonage and ask if we can stay on the phone a little longer. |

Agreed. The Vonage statement should say, "Unlimited, calling! (in 4 hour increments)
You know.... the facts... is that so hard? |

Wireless companies do the same thing. It also helps to protect you if you leave the phone off-hook. Should be made known to the subscribers though. |
