Is there something different about the way data is processed or the actual data used to determine the results on the Voip Speed Test?

I ask because I consistently get inferior (<20kbps) upstream on the Voip Speed Test but on other sites like dslreports.com, I get upstream in the hundreds of kbps. My ISP ran a bandwidth test which confirmed my upstream is terrific (I am paying for 1mb both ways). I have eliminated routers and computers on my LAN to the point where I am sure the only thing between me and the Voip speed test site is my wireless ISP's modem.

Coincidentally (?), my telephone audio is choppy, even with the bandwidth saver dialed all the way down.

I can not speak for other test. I can tell you that I have 10 meg down, 1 meg up and it is always very close to what I have.

I am sure this is not what you wanted to hear, but I believe our test is accurate.

The Voip speed test works accurately for me everywhere except when going through my wireless ISP. Coincidentally, I am unable to ping or use traceroute. But surfing the internet, downloading, instant messaging... it all works fine. I've got another call into my ISP's tech support...

If any of this sparks a clue for anybody, please bring it on...!

Works fine for me too. I'd suspect something on the ISP end if ping isn't working at all. Tracert works on the same principal as ping so if one doesn't work, neither would the other. Maybe Dan can tell us if the Voip test tool uses something along those lines too.

I have had the same issues recently (past 2-3 weeks) with this site's test. All others are consistent.

Cable co. sells me a pipe that is 3 meg. down & 768 k up. Results are pretty close....... and I'm running the test from work running a remote desktop connection into the home LAN.

I can ping my ISP's gateway - that's it. Beyond that, all pings time out. But my other internet activity is unaffected (works fine).
