All,
Here is what I am experiencing.

I will make a call and about a min or two later I get a one way speech path. The called party can not hear but I can. This will last for 10-20 sec then the call will resume two way speech. I have corporate IP phone that works fine.

I am using a RT31P2 behind a WRT54G and Cable modem.
Any help is appreciated

that looks like your problem. you have some pretty bad packet loss and discards, especially on the outgoing path (the first one) which would be indicative of you talking. this is probably why you're getting dead air.
tell us your isp, cable modem model, and network setup.

I am using Adelphia Cable
I have an Toshiba PCX cable modem. I have had it for about 3 years now.
My setup is as follows
Internet=>Cable Modem=>WRT54G Wireless Router=>RT31P2
The WRT54G does the DHCP/NAT/Firewall
The RT31P2 is connected from the WAN port to a LAN port on the WRT54G and is set to do DHCP Client
I have tried with the Firewall off. I have also tried with the RT31P2 in front of the WRT54G. Same problem. I assumed it was packet loss but was not sure if it was at the edge or in the Vonage core.

sounds like the notorious toshibia pcx1100 claims another one. replace it and I bet your problems go away. if it's the toshiba 2400 or 2500, or some other model, let us know.

Do you have a recommendation on what type of cable modem to buy?

pretty sure those threads talk about it. most everyone seems happy with the motorola SB5100. seems like the pcx1100 is about the only one with the problem. anything else should be fine, especially if you can get your cable co to do it for free.
