I have a RT31P2 router now for my Vonage service. I put it in front of my Smoothwall, (which i really didn’t want to do but had no choice cause of another issue) So ever since I added the RT31P2 in, no one can get into my Win 2000 FTP server including my self using Internet Explorer. Funny enough you can still get in using FileZilla, so i know everything still works. I found a couple other people online who had the same problem but no fix as of yet. I already tried using another FTP server and changing the passive IP address but no luck.
Second problem is the RT31P2 is dropping my upload speed down to about 128k up when I’m on the phone. My cable connection is about 1MB up so it doesn’t need to be dropped so drastically. If I could I would adjust it so its only cut down to about 500k up as to not interfere with my HTTP server too much. any way to adjust that? |

that's weird. I assume you're forwarding the correct port right? and putting the correct port into IE when you try to access it?
change your QoS. try putting it at close to 1MB (in kbps). you can find the setting at http://192.168.15.1 under apps and gaming, qos. |

Not sure if this is good news or bad news for you, but...I've got an FTP server running and when I got Vonage, I put the RT31P2 in front of everything also. I just set up the same forwarding rules I had on my old router and it works just fine for me.
Can you get to your FTP server via its internal IP address? If you can't, then port forwarding's not the problem.
Something else to be aware of...did you recently install Windows XP Service Pack 2? If so, it changes the way Internet Explorer's default connection method. Go to Tools | Internet Options | Advanced and uncheck "Use Passive FTP" in IE, then try it again. |
