I'm using a netgear dm602 dsl modem which only works if I connect it to one of the Ethernet ports on the router's hub. The vonage instructions say that I should connect the modem to the WAN port but this doesn't work as I cannot send anything to the modem from my pc and thus cannot access the internet if I do this.

Can anyone tell me if it is necessary to connect the DSL modem to the WAN port for the VOIP function on this router to work?
