Post subject: FYI for plan changes
Just an FYI to all. Today was the last day on my billing cycle and since I was running a bit low on minutes I decided to update my plan from the 500 minute to the unlimited. I was charged a $9.99 fee for the rate change and then charged another $10 for the "prorated" amount. I was a bit confused since this was the last day in my billing cycle and there really shouldn't be a prorated amount. I called the Billing Department, only waited on hold for five minutes, and talked to a very helpful guy named George. He told me that since

doesn't really "prorate" minutes or anything that these two were standard charges. He stated that I should have changed my plan at the very beginning of my billing cycle and not the end, but he went ahead and waived both charges for me. So...long story short on this ramble, if you plan to change your rate plan do it at the beginning of your billing cycle.

I appreciate the info. I looked into this a month or two ago and searched the
Vonage
help sections on their website. Much to my surprise I found various conflicting webpages on how exactly this is handled with different prices and terms listed on the various sites.

At .039 / minute for minutes over your 500 minutes you can use about 750 minutes a month and still be under the $24.99 cost of the unlimited plan.
