Today I got my first incoming call waiting on Vonage, and boy, was it intrusive. I was leaving a message for someone on their machine, and then "beep" (kind of sounded different than BellSouth but no problem) and I paused and started talking again...then "beep" again like 5 seconds later, and again *every* five seconds repeatedly until I finally answered the call.
So is that just how call waiting works on Vonage? On BellSouth, you get one beep intially and then one beep about 20 seconds later, and that's it. Vonage's version will take some getting used to. |

Yes I agree it's a little too frequent. You can disable call waiting.
However, some phones have call waiting deluxe. This let's you press a button on your phone and direct the incoming call to voice mail, ask to hold, hang up on, etc. |

So is there any option besides disabling call waiting completely? When call waiting kicks in, it's just about impossible to continue the current conversation. Is that tone coming from the Vonage network, or is it coming from a setting on the Vonage adapter? And if it's coming from the adapter, can a tech modify it?
Speaking of which...where are the Vonage techs lately? |

i had this problem... but called up Vonage tech support and they reprogrammed my linksys adapter and fixed it. Now, it only beeps once when there is a call waiting and then stops beeping if i do nothing. just call up vonage... there is a fix... just needs software programming in your adapter. |
