Just got my linksys adaptor and hooked it up. I already have a netgear wireless/wired router that hooks up 3 pc's and a printer. So first I inserted the linksys adaptor between the cable modem (Motorola SB4200) and the Netgear. I can see the linksys @ its default IP address (192.168.15.1) and see its default settings (DHCP server on, automatically get IP etc.). I can see all my homepc's. But no internet. No green light on the phone LED.
I turned of DHCP server onthe Linksys thinking it might be conflicting with my Netgear which also had DHCP on. Still no luck. (Couldn't see the Linksys anymore at its default IP address). Had to reset Linksys.
Moved the Linksys after the Netgear. Now I get internet since my Netgear works as before. But can't see the Linksys anymore @its default address. Netgear sees it as an attached device at 192.168.0.4 but can't ping this address. Phone 1 LED comes on though in this setup (I guess because the internet is there now). But no dial tone or anything.
Got rid of my netgear completely and just hooked up linksys to cable modem and one pc. Can see the linksys but no internet. internet IP address is 0.0.0.0 etc. Basically the "automatically get IP address" is just not working. Also no phone LED lit.
Obviously making some very simple mistake or my linksys is busted.
Any suggestions? |

I use my Linksys behind my MS (microsoft) wireless router and have no problems. Been using it for almost a month now. Have ran into some minor issues that were resolved because of outages or what not.
Anyway...I just rebooting the Linksys. Shut off the modem and the NG router and reconfiguring it back the way you had it before. And just plug the Linksys into a port on the back of your NG router then it should work fine.
I was sitting around messing with mine one evening trying to put the Linksys between the MS and the modem and nothing worked. So I let it be and it works fine the way I have it set up. |

OK. I went back to my netgear connected to my modem and the linksys connected to the netgear. Rebooted everything and this time the phone started working.. So far so good.. I was afraid that I will have QoS problems with the linksys behind the Netgear so still need to figure out how to swap the two.
But in this current setup I still can't see the linksys through its default IP address (192.168.15.1). My Netgear assigns it 192.168.0.3 but I can't ping that either. |

A way for me to see mine I had to plug a PC into the back of the Linksys.
I really do not need to mess with it because I have no problems. The only problem I have encounter was when there was an outage for a lot of people in many different area codes. Sometimes when my husband calls me from Kuwait he gets a fast busy...he even got a number you just dialed is disconnected but that was calling to a landline number to his mom's...other than that everything it GREAT for me. Had the service a month, got my first statement and feels great to see a lower phone bill for once and be able to make all the LD calls I want for a smaller fee than with Sprint.
Good luck with your new Vonage service. |

what isp do you have? it looks like it's blocking the new mac address of your Vonage router. try cloning the mac of your netgear in the rt31p2 and see if that works. or call your isp with the mac of your Vonage router. of couse this may not be the issue, but it looks like it is. if all else fails and you have to keep the rt31p2 behind the netgear, go into the rt31p2 setup and enable remote administration (note what port you use obviously). this will allow you to login to the router with its assigned ip address. |
