I would like to find out how should I connect the Linksys adapter to my network; should I connect Internet>Cable Modem>Linksys>Aiport extreme (via ethernet port on the Linksys) OR should I connect it Internet>Cable Modem>Airport>Linksys (connected to the aiport extreme via LAN port); also do I need to change any IP addresses - I have seen some people are changing the IP's on their aiports to 192.... versus leaving them at 10.... Any help?? |

I would go with the first way. best way is to just mess around with it though. |

I have it setup with the IPs set to 192.*.*.*. If you don't do that then Airport can not see the Linksys router. |

do you need the airport to see the router for anything?? - or you need it for setting up the Linksys router to handle phone calls??

If your airport is placed behing the rouoter (which is how you want it) and you do not have both routers set to the same ip range, your computer will NOT have internet access. You still can place phone calls. The airport will only communicate with IPs in the same range. Since it must go through the linksys router to get to your internet connection, this is the only choice.
It is very easy to set up. In the airport admin panel, you can select the ip range to 192.x.x.x. Once you do that, you're set! |

Remember... You want the order to be: 1) Modem 2) Linksys router 3) Airport
Doing it this way will ensure that your voice traffic gets priority over data. |

I've had it both ways and never messed with IP addresses. Both seem to work fine only difference - I use Airport Snow. No differences in sound quality or anything else. Incidentally, provider is Comcast. |

Airport Extreme is configured to use 10.x.x.x out of the box. This must be changed to 192.168.x.x to work after the linksys router. Perhaps the older airports use 192 by default. |

I just received my iLink Router in the mail and decided to try to install it into my airport extreme system that is already hooked into my Motorolla ethernet cable modem (Comcast Cable).
I read what you all said to do and for some reason my connection is not working. The cable modem works, the router seems to work but the airport extreme is not communicating to my powerbook. I changed the IP address to 192.168.0.1 as recommended above and still could not find the server. Tried other random address to no effect.
Does anyone know a step by step process of doing this? I then disconnected the router and reconnected the airport and now I can't even receive a signal from the airport. I then plugged my powerbook directly into the cable modem using the ethernet cable and I get a signal to the internet.
I'm not a huge tech head, but if anyone out there can write a step by step process of hooking the router to an airport system and what setting to enter for the network settings would be great. It would save loads of frustration for those wanting to use Vonage quickly and painless as possible.
Also, none of you mentioned if you installed the "Getting started" software that came with Vinage and the router. Did anyone do this or did you all just connect the router, change the ip address and that's it?
Thanks for clarifying,
