People have metioned to me that we sometimes sound like we are in a tunnel. Also some say we sound far away. This doesn't happen every call but enough to be a problem. I did check with one person and they said that it happens sometimes and other times the call is clear. All my speed tests ( approx. 4500 up/ 350 down) are fine and testyourvoip results seem to be fine ( 4.0-4.2 range) my setup is as follows:

Motorola SB4100> Linksys RT31ps2> PC
Bandwith Saver at 50 ( I had it at 90 but people said I sometimes sounded choppy so lowered it. The "tunnel" thing was about the same on both.
QOS on router "enabled 256". Set by default

Any suggestions??

Thanks,
Dave

post the detailed results from testyourvoip.

edit: also if you could tell us your phone and if you've tried it with any other phones.

Funny... testyourvoip says I'm short... 3.7
yet I have one Vonage line and one other Voip line and have absolutely no problems. all calls are fine, no delays, no echo as we used to have before we moved. No tunnel voices... etc.

moral of the story: don't trust certain sites like testyourvoip.

does anyone know what MOS score means?
moral of the story, post meaningful results like latency, packet loss and discards.
and while it may not be the best indication, I've yet to find something better besides pingplotter, which takes a lot more time. for a quick look, testyourvoip is a great resource.

Thanks reebok,

I have a different Panasonic phone then is listed but you never know. I am on hold with Tech (non) Support as we speak. Was on hold for 30min. and was disconnected Evil or Very Mad . I am going to see if there is anything they can adjust at their end.

Will report back. If I get to talk to someone that is.

ok good luck with it. the only setting that I know of that is remotely close to your problem would be outgoing gain which would increase your volume to the person on the other end. but if it you sound normal sometimes, I don't think this is the case. and if they do change that, it may make you very loud when your connection is normal.
let us know if it gets fixed.
