Vonage UK on AOL Broadband - works fine.

I read elsewhere that people could'nt get Vonage to work on the AOL Broadband service.. It works a treat, although you need to dump the AOL USB modem and get a standard Modem/Router setup before you go any further.

I've got a Netgear DG834g Wireless ADSL Firewall Router. The Router itself logs into AOL for you, which means you can dump the AOL client to connect. There are a few other routers you can use, check the AOL forums for more info.

PC's Mac's etc connect to the Netgear.
The Vonage supplied Linksys Router plugs into the Netgear with the standard cable obviously..

Turn off the DHCP server on the Linksys and tell it to get an automatic I.P. address ("Obtain I.P. Address automatically" on Internet setup).

I personally don't plug anything into the Linksys Router - just the phone and once I had solved the No-Ring problem (other thread), it works just fine.

The only thing is that it's a shame to have such a big router just as a phone adapter as it's a decent bit of kit and would fetch good cash on Ebay!

I have a Bt Voyager 2100 wireless modem currently working with the Lynksys RT31P2 on BT broadband 1Mb but im thinking about swapping over to AOL broadband does anyone know of any problems that might ocur using these wth AOL.

I would like to try and get some feedback if any before i change over

not sure why you would want to change to aol broadband. there are always funny issues with AOL on just about every aspect of their service--they tend to use different standards and block things they dont like.
i would stick with bt broadband for the time being

I just wanted to change isp's because BT has a 15gb restriction where as Aol is unlimited but i have noticed another provider called bulldog on www.bulldogbroadband.com which is also unlimited but will have to enquire more about it tho before making any decision
