Don't want to pay extra for a separate fax line. Is there any reason I can't use the primary phone line for FAX as well? |

I have sent a few faxes over my Vonage voice line and have never had any issues. I am using an HP Fax 1010. |

I have an HP 2500 and Ihave tried FAX over the voice line. Can't seem to make it work. I have tried only sending faxes so far. I tried the prefix *99 but it didn't work either. Sometimes it is not able to connect and sometime it connects but fails during transmission.
Hate to have to buy another line to do an occasional fax. The whole idea of saving money with VOIP goes down the drain.
Will this change in packetization setting help? Looks like I need to call Vonage to get it done and I have never once successfully connected with their customer service. |

I have just purchased a mutli function printer that includes fax...I am planning to set it up to use my single Vonage voice line as I don't want to pay for an extra line either. I'll let you know if it works. |

I bought an HP 3330 to replace my Canon F50, which is an inkjet. Both are multifunction. When I first signed up for Vonage, I had to dig the Canon out of the closet just to fax my Vonage LOA because the HP could not make a connection to Vonage's LNP fax line. I spent 30 minutes on the phone with HP support. They had me decrease the speed. Some posts suggest installing a DSL filter backwards. It made no difference. \Using only the phone cord that comes the the HP as stated in its manual made no difference. My conclusion: Find a fax machine that works with Vonage. I try to scan PDF files as attachments throught email whenever possible. |

My Canon MP390 was able to fax outgoing right out of the box...all I did was install it, plug it into my regular Vonage phone line, and away it went. Tonight I tried a 7 page fax using the 'Fine' setting and it went thru in 3 and a half minutes no problems. Haven't tried incoming yet. Although I forsee problems with voicemail...if a regular phone call comes thru then the fax is going to kick in before the voicemail. |

I have the Canon MP730 with fax, and I had to set it to manual receive. If a voice call comes in the MP730 will answer it and hang up since it isn't a fax. The line doesn't ring long enough to allow me to pick up a telephone handset or answer the simultaneous ring on my cell phone. |

With my Canon AIW I found that it was necessary to set the fax mode to manual receive. I only have a single voice line, so when I am expecting a fax from someone I have to answer the telephone as it if was a voice call, then press the start button on the Canon upon hearing the negotiating tones, then I hang up the handset and let the fax do its duty.
I have not tried to receive a fax with my faxmodem, but the AIW is fairly reliable. |
