Forwarding Phone and then Voicemail

Hello, I just signed up for Vonage yesterday and haven't received my ATA yet. I am trying to do the following and wondering if it is possible. I have my Vonage number currently forwarded to my home phone number. I have call-notes on my home phone and it picks up in 5 rings (about 13 secs).

I have the Vonage voicemail set to pick up after 5 seconds, but it is my call-notes that still answers the phone. I'd rather not use the call notes voicemail because I want to use the Vonage remote notification, etc.

Can this be accomplished, or is voicemail pickup disabled when call forwarding is active?

What you explain "should" work.

But before you get too deep into it, wait until your ATA arrives and you're fully "up."

My voicemail was kinda "flaky" too until my ATA arrived, then it all worked as it was supposed to.

I suspect your account isn't "fully configured" until the Vonage servers "see" your ATA on the network. (At least that's what it looked like to me)

Thanks for the reply. I think you may be right as far as set up time because it did work this morning. I changed the pick up time from 5 seconds up to 10 seconds, but I'm assuming there is some delay in making these changes because it still picks up in 5 seconds.

I also tried changing my greeting several times, but it doesn't change in the system. It also took me about 10 recording attempts to record a greeting where my voice wasn't fading in and out. This was done through a direct dial into the voicemail system so if it was a QOS issue it had to be on their end.

I was really excited about Vonage when I signed up, but with the voice quality issues I've had trying to record my voicemail and the settings delay, etc. I'm somewhat worried. I'm going to pay careful attention to the number of days since signup and if it still isn't working soon I'll make sure I cancel within the 14 day period.
