So granted that it hasn't been that long since I started porting. Feb 8th is the day that Vonage tells me they sent the LOA. Today, I called Verizon and they state that they do not have any orders for the LNP. I called back 4 times to reach 4 different reps just to make sure that one wasn't just giving me the run around. All had the same story. I was hoping that they had received it so I could put the pressure on them. I know how it works, (i used to work WLNP for Verizon Wireless) and I would have made the necessary phone calls to get it to roll. But being that the LOA hasn't been sent, there is nothing I can do.
I call Vonage, and the the guy that I got at Customer Service barely spoke English. The call took 20 minutes only because I could not understand a word that man was saying. I think he was trying to help me, but with the language barrier in the way, it was useless... The only thing I got from him was a ticket number that he read off to me. Thats it!!
So after that ordeal, I said to myself, ill stop the port and take a local number. Being that there is 2 area codes where I live, I really want the 503 over the 971 just because the 503 is more widely known and people usually make mistakes and dial 503 first as a habit anyway. Come to find out, Vonage doesn't have 503 numbers anymore. Just the 971. So here I am with no Port, Vonage not sending the LOA, and not being able to take a 503 number.... What a bummer... not a nightmare yet, but I guess its turning into one. VERY FRUSTRATED! |

Vonage uses a 3rd party to process LNP. They are the ones that are slow in send the paper work to the pots provider. Granted Vonage should do something about how long it takes but in the mean time you'll have to wait.
I know that when I switched from Verzion to MCI for local calling it took 3 weeks for the transfer to complete. Granted I did not have to pay for 2 lines at the same time and maybe Vonage would consider that being an option. |

Yes, from what I hear, Vonage will indeed credit that time in transfer. My problem is that Im moving on the 31st of March, and will have no way of keeping the line active. Im moving to an area with a different service provider and will end up losing the number at the end of March. Im just hoping that they will get it done in time. Thing is, is that I want a 503 number vs. 971 that they have here in Portland, Oregon. The 503 is recognized much more. From what ive heard and read, Lingo Voip has this number and great customer service, and might be a decision ill have to make at the end of March. Not that I dont like Vonage, but I really want that 503 number. |
