I'm getting anxious...my LNP transfer is scheduled for tomorrow! I will finally get to use it as my main number.

What is displayed for the CID Name when I call someone else using my Vonage number? Is it the account holder's name? I would test it myself, but I don't know anyone with CID with Name.

Thanks!

it used to say Vonage holdings but I just read today that it doesn't anymore. it depends on how the telco and/or their ldap/cnam provider handles it. it may say the name of the city or state you're calling from. if you call another Vonage user, the number will display twice.

mine said Vonage holdings, too. i always thought that was the oddest ID. Not the Vonage, but the holdings. Maybe it's because they're holding up my number! Smile

anyhow, i hope it did change and that my outbound caller id works.

Vonage is technically Vonage holdings, inc.

My outbound caller ID to people outside the Vonage network stayed the same after the LNP. It went away briefly and I contacted the LNP group and they got it back.

Vonage to Vonage, people you call only get your number.

The CID name should show just like it always did before... but it might take a day or two after LNP.

The "Vonage Holdings" message is only for those who are using a Vonage number, I belive, not for those who have ported their number.

For the same reason, unless you requested otherwise, your name will still appear in directory assistance (not the case for those using a Vonage phone number).

really? People that didn't (or couldn't in my case) port their number to Vonage will have "Vonage" show up as the caller id information? I assume there is no way to have that changed?

Not necessarily. My second Vonage number which was not ported shows up with the rate center name when I call someone. It will show "ATLANTA NOR, GA" in caller-id to most people outside of Vonage. It may vary by carrier Vonage is using. We're on Focal in my area.

When I use my Vonage line to call my POTS line or my cell phone, which are all in the same area code, it says "unknown name", along with the phone number.

This is a problem that I have discussed with other Vonage customers in another thread or two in this forum.

I had not heard of this "Vonage Holdings" identification that other people are talking about, but I would like it simply to say my name. I tend not to pick up on incoming calls that display "unknown name" and I assume that others might not either.
