My Linksys box keeps rebooting when it other network traffic is on the router! I have a DSL connection with PPPoE. 1.5 down and 800 up. This linksys router is lousy! The QoS doesn't work! Even every time it sees that it can maintain the 96kbits for Voice I just goes belly up. The whole point of QoS is to prioritize packets so voice gets thru better than others!

setting the QoS value to 512 didn't do much for me? Wondering if any there is any new firmware to address this! .

I am gonna have to put the RT31P2 behind my router that doesn't have QoS and guess have to live with it!!

I don't really understand what you're saying, but it seems to be something about random router disconnects. which qos settings do you have enabled? if you have more than voice, try disabling the others. I've also read disabling qos completely has helped. something to try since you're going to lose qos anyway if you move it.

okay here is the scenario

1. make a call with Vonage. (high quality settings)
2. surf a webpage with lots of graphics. or download a 1 meg attachment from my webmail account. just sustained traffic
2b. or when someone makes a sustained request to my webserver. (here its using up more of the upstream bandwidth)
3. router reboots! drops pppoe connection, drops everything

My QoS has to follwoing settings. I am using app-based QoS.

app based qos - enabled.

all are set to low priority, except port 22. ssh (which shouldnt take up much BW)

port pased QoS - disabled

Voice QoS - enabled: tried 96, 128, 256, 512. all have the exact same results!

so just to reiterate, try disabling the application based qos. then try disabling all qos unless you don't mind the minor hassle of switching your router around. if it works without qos, at least you can avoid a lot of plugging and unplugging if nothing else.

Vonage tech support said "the voice QOS at 512 is like its really off" . So anybody who knows what that means please say something. To me it makes sense if your upload is in the ballpark of the setting you have on voice QOS. I have heard also the 1.27.01 firmware did not default their router to 512 at all after it completed installing...in that case where does that figure come in ? I also changed my QOS as close to my upload speed as I could which is about 470 without a reboot and simple upload of anything and talk on phone including another pc surfing...no issues. Also to see where it defaults at a reset with button on back of router...it defaults back to 512. so whatever the story is I dunno...I have had your problem for months including this router and now its gone.
