Just a thought.
Besides, my service charges would be supporting the death of one more innocent person somewhere in the world. |
If you really feel this way, you should cancel your Vonage account. I have news for you, they pay taxes to the US Government on every dollar you send them. In addition to that, what they keep after paying taxes to the US Government they pay to their employees who pay taxes to the US Government on that money. They also send some money to Cisco and a large number of other service providers who also pay taxes to the US Government.
I would not be at all suprised if AT LEAST 30% (and probably more) of the money you pay to Vonage is paid in Taxes to the US Government. |

There is quite a bit of difference between normal corporate taxes and the myriad of telecommunications charges that make up 1/3 of my old Qwest bill. |

I agree completely. My response was to the Canadian who seems to have a moral objection to paying taxes to the US Government.
I agree that the myriad of telecommunications charges are way out of hand. |

I would bet the price we pay Vonage is more than 30% taxes.. Probably more like 40 or 50%..
I would say the average American pays about 40% of their income to taxes. In our state the gas tax is about 50 cents a gallon add a 5.5% sales tax on everything, property taxes.. And all the other hidden taxes on the other things we buy..
It makes me mad that my property taxes are going up another 25%, Medical insurance and doctors are going up 25% this year, my home insurance went up 30%, Cable is going up 20%.. Does anyone know of an employer that gives out 25% yearly raises? I'd like to work for that company!! |

Many people forget that businesses only pay taxes on profits. You would be suprised how many companies make a small profit because of the millions of ways that you can write off a buck.
Don't worry though, the employees get taxed as well as everyone else down the chain. |
