Verizon remote call forwarding and LNP

Anyone have experience transferring a Verizon rcf (remote call forwarding) number to Vonage?

Does LNP apply to rcf numbers?

I have had a Verizon telephone number for 25 years with remote call forwarding. Were you successful transferring your number from Verizon to Vonage? What was the process?

Good question. I was successful recently in porting an RCF number from Verizon to a Voip company, but not to Vonage. I did not have a Vonage account at the time.

What was required for the porting was a phone bill from Verizon for the RCF number + a Letter Of Authorization (LOA) signed by me -- to allow the Voip company to port the number from Verizon. Since Verizon RCF numbers are billed as business accounts, some Voip companies may require you to provide your authorization on your company letterhead. I'd contact Vonage customer service for the exact wording of the LOA & any other Vonage requirements.

The Verizon RCF service was really expensive, about US$50/month, not including message units per incoming call. So it was a relief to change the provider. The funny part is that Verizon Business Services called me about a dozen times after I changed -- trying to get back my business.

I'd expect Vonage to be willing & able to port your RCF number. If not, there are other Voip companies that will.
