Wow - has this ever been a long and painful nightmare. I have two Toshiba P4 laptop (Windows XP) PC's, one with a with a Linksys WRK54G wireless router, the other with a WPC54G adapter - loved them all, right out of their boxes. Just switched to BellSouth DSL, also GREAT. Then came Vonage (and the Linksys PAP2 Adapter) - another day burned, still no dial tone, no Tech support (called numerous times, usually 30-90 minute hold, always hung up on before actually speaking unto any Techies). The manuals have been worn to powder, and on-line support appears to be non-existent. My guess is that they are relying upon forums such as this to actually provide their support. Anyway, it appears that my adapter and router are "speaking" - just nothing beyond that. Any ideas (other than returning this mess to Office Depot)?

what is the pap2 plugged into? and lay out your network a little better if you can (i.e. dsl modem to this to that)
what happens with tftp tftp.vonage.net get test from a command prompt? can you access the pap2 at http://192.168.15.1 ?

I have no modem - per BellSouth, connected to a fiber optic line. This is plugged into router, which in turn is distributed to the primary PC and the box from hell (PAP2) - identical to one of the simplistic drawings supplied. The remote (wireless) PC works GREAT, all cables and the telephone itself have been swapped around and checked. The box from hell responds well to commands via the phone plugged into it, and seems to recognize that it is connected to Ethernet, but the only non-Tech Customer No-Service person I actually managed to speak with said that he had "visibility" to it but could see no active device connected.

Clueless about the addresses noted, but http://192.168.1.1 works well for the dozens of setup attempts I've made.

Anyway, thanks - just wondering if anyone else offers a similar product that is actually supported and works and all that there "picky" stuff .... it's been a very long couple of days, but at least I'll have some interesting stuff to write about - eventually.

hmm...I wonder what the "no active device" comment meant. could be possible they have the wrong mac address for the unit, but I would think he would have checked that.

They have the correct address, and I have confirmed it via the "voice setup" feature in the box from hell. I've had LOTS of free time to mess around with this fine dysfunctional system. My impression thus far is that they have precious few clues about what they're doing.

Sounds exactly like what I have spent my entire day doing - trying to get this boat anchor running (similar hardware), no Tech Support, no nothing!

How do you have this all hooked up?

I had an issue but had to hook my wan port on the Vonage device to a lan port on the Vonage device and then hook a cable from the Vonage to my other router to get it working.

Errrrr - ummmm - that makes absolutely no sense, but what the heck, thanks. Mine was wired precisely per one of their simple diagrams - DSL feed to router, Vonage Adapter and PC out of router via Ethernet.

Look through the forums and you'll see what I am talking about. When you have 2 routers this is what I had to do.

Don't go off saying that it makes absolutely no sense.

If you want help, I would suggest that you be kind.

The Vonage router would not work unless it had a wan connection and since I have another router that is using it I had to do that trick.

Thanks again, sorry if you took offense, but I only have one router, not two - wired precisely per the minimal instructions provided.
