I'm going on vacation to Panama and was wondering if I can still use my Vonage account from overseas. I've got a place lined up to stay at that has broadband access. Is there some kind of regulation or law that stops users from taking their account overseas? |

Vonage doesn't guarantee that it will work in any other country. Many of us here in these forums have friends and colleagues who are successfully using vonage with their high-speed connections from many countries, but again, there is no guarantee that it will work.
Vonage will only ship their product to a US address and the payments for the service must be made via a US-based credit card account. I have several colleagues overseas that order their service through me and it's working just fine. Now they have one or more US phone numbers to receive incoming calls, and all their calls to the US and Canada are covered. |

Very true - but the internet is the internet, and unless they start doing IP block lookups for the IP of your ATA - there wont be a problem.
I know that I get better connectivity to the states through my ISP than some people in the states get themselves. |

I think the time will come when international "users' will be able to order the Vonage service direct. Give it time. |

Dan - Sounds good, it does seem the obvious way to go with their service. They open up their market then to a huge number of potential users. I know that I and many ohers will look forward to this |

I think Vonage are being pretty inward looking by not shipping outside the US-. Packet8 does Haven't they heard of expatriates?- I seem to recall a few US citizens living outside the country. I agree with the other poster about receiving calls on numbers from outside North America- iConnectHere promise to offer London UK numbers and other European ones, and I suppose Mexico City and other places in the Americas would make sense as well. I spoke to companies in the UK who could offer numbers but they were so backward they had no idea that it could be done.
I'd be interested to know what connection people in the UK are using. As for other countries there might be laws against VoIP services but generally they're a lot less widespread than ones on callback. |

I am in Finland and am staying here for almost a month. I have it hooked up to an ADSL line in my wifes step fathers apartment.
I have used it to check my voicemail at work and cell, called work and given the number out to friends and family. My neighbor has called me to bs about the weather etc. Works fine!
Only bad thing is forgetting to pull the power at night. Some people can't grasp an 8 hour time difference.
