Broadvox Direct reportedly does it and I believe that AT&T is doing it as well. not sure if there is a cost associated with it though, and I seem to remember broadvox is for business customers only, though that could have changed.

Well son of a gun. The only bad thing I've heard about AT&T is having to dial 10 digits for every call. Maybe I should give them a trial run before my number ports.

better check out http://www.dslreports.com/forum/voip first. it's been known as the "perpetual problem child" there. but either way, there's a lot of good info on it to research there.

IMHO
Dont sign up for their service untill they get ther service fixed. I live in Milwaukee Using Time Warner Business class and the service totally ****...
Router constantly dropps off line and all tech support does it sends me another router. #3 is on its way. How bout training the Techs properly first and stop hiring laid off Telemarketers. One conversation with a tech support rep I was told that Vonage is hiring 60 people a week. at that rate all of NJ will be working for Vonage in the next year.

One Comment...

scottesh,

The probability of getting two bad routers in a row is reasonably small, and the probability of a third is even smaller. It may not be a router problem at all, so I would not hold out a lot of hope that the third one is going to make the problems go away. We'll keep our fingers crossed for you, of course, but I really doubt this is a router problem if you've already tried two others.

Have you run the tests at http://www.dslreports.com/tools ? If not, I'd suggest you run the Line Packet Loss Test, the Speed Test and the Tweak Test. Then if you post the results here someone may be able to help you diagnose and hopefully fix the problem.

The problem you have described could be caused by packet loss, which could be in the line (even business class) or the modem. Indeed many modems cannot keep up with the new higher speeds offered by ISP's.

I don't know if any of us can help you, but there are lots of folks here who will try.

Good luck. And I hope the first call you get is the job you've been waiting for!

I would really stay clear from AT&T Call Vantage and Verizon's VoiceWing Voip service. Mainly because they do not offer real unlimited...read their TOS ..they only allow up to 5,000 minutes. Its Unlimited with a huge asterisk *** sign. Vonage however has been 100% unlimited for me for a year now.

Packet8 also will bite you in the ass for going over just 2,000. Then they try to make up some crap about how its busniess use.
