I have Bay Alarm home alarm system for my house in the San Francisco Bay Area. Can someone tell me if I can still have monitoring service for my home alarm with Vonage connected? If so, how do I do the connection? |

I was looking for alarm providers that work with Voip. I found out that traditional monitoring companies (like ADT, Brinks, etc.) don't really work well with Voip. I came across uControl (http://www.ucontrol.com). They work over broadband and also have an optional cellular channel (and old-school phone line also). They are cheaper and have some pretty cool features like notifications (email, SMS) when the system is armed/disarmed. They have a device that just attaches to my current system. The user web page allows you to change your contact information quickly. You can also check your system status and arm/disarm from the web.
I have had them for a few months. I have been real happy with them. |

REMINDER: Please be advise that Vonage dont work 100% with alarm systems. let's say 50-50. |

please also note that since your Voip device is electricity dependent, connecting your home alarm system to your Voip service is pointless. a common thief usually just trips power to your house and bingo! your good as toast. no Voip provider can guarantee that they can work with alarm systems 100%. it is also stated in the terms of agreement of these companies that they can't guarantee that it'll work. |
