I've been a Vonage customer for several months. All in all, the experience has been pretty good. I ported my number from SBC and the transition was seamless, quick, and painless.

In the last several weeks I've had times where I've called my home number from the office and it'll ring 10 or 11 times and then I get a fast busy. The phone never rings in the house and Vonage voicemail never picks up. Other people have reported having the same thing happen when calling my house. It's like the call never makes it to the Vonage network. They never appear in my call history log either.

Has anyone experienced this problem? I've talked to Vonage tech support twice and they aren't much help because it's such a sporadic problem.

the same thing was happening to a customer i spoke with today. what is your current call forwarding setting?

My CF is deactivated. Voicemail is set to pick up in 25 seconds, but in these particular calls, it never answers.

I used to be in the telecom business working for a CLEC (in the early days of LNP). If presented with this problem then, I would have suggested that there's a translation problem somewhere in the LNP database, but I have no idea how I'd ask for that to be checked out.

I really don't think this is a Vonage problem, but related to LNP. I'd be curious to hear your thoughts.

I have had the same thing happen to me. I've only had Vonage for about three weeks now, but its happend quite a few times. I'll dial my number and it doesn't ring, and then I get a fast "beeep beeep beeep beeep..." after 10 or so rings. I have voicemail and call forwarding off.

I think it IS a Vonage problem... maybe due to their recent oversubscription of customers? I've also been having some other problems recently (like not hearing the other party on incoming calls) and I'm pretty sure they aren't from my ISP. I'm on a 1.5mbps down/384kbps up DSL connection.

Have you talked to Vonage about this? If so, what did they say?

What phone adapter are you using?
