PostPosted: Fri Feb 18, 2005 2:12 pm    Post subject: Click-2-Call and pausing between digits Reply with quote Back to top

I am trying to use the Click-2-Call program to dial my voicemail. First of all, it doesn't appear to accept *123 so I need to dial my entire access number. I would like to be able to add a couple of pauses after the access number is dialed, then have it automatically dial my mailbox number and the password.

My fingers get tired dialing *123, my 11 digit mailbox number, #, my 4 digit password, 1 to access the messages menu, then 1 again to listen to my messages. That's 22 numbers/keys to press! I'm looking for an easier way.

I tried adding a comma after the access number, then the mailbox number. But it doesn't appear that the Click-2-Call program doesn't accept the comma for a pause and the call doesn't go through. I also tried setting up a speed dial on my phone with the commas for pause. But it doesn't accept 22+ numbers for a speed dial location. Go figure.

Anybody have any ideas?

I have this problem with pauses as well. I setup my speed dial on my phone to *123PXXXX to dial my voicemail and sometimes it works and sometimes it does not. The system waits for all the numbers and then the call is connected.

I have not tried this when calling a number other than voicemail.

You don't need to dial your phone number after the *123.

There is an undocumented option that makes the vmail system go right to the password prompt when calling from your Vonage line.

After entering your password/pin, hit 99. The first 9 puts you into the option menu and the second 9 tells the system to not prompt you for your mailbox number when calling from your Vonage line.

That cuts at least 11 numbers off your dialing.

Very nice. Why in the world would this be undocumented??? Thank you very much, works like a charm. My fingers are happy.

My voicemail came configured with the undocumented "99" option already selected...I've never had to enter my phone number!

There is no good explanation for why it is undocumented. The PAP2 I received initially was also configured to skip the prompt. When my LNP completed, the prompt appeared. I (and more important, my wife) hated entering the phone number. I called CS and they told me about the option. I told them that it should not be undocumented.
