Although I've never posted here, I've been lurking, now, for about two months. I've read so many, many threads of numerouis folks who seem to have had all sorts of troubles in getting up and running with Vonage. Since all these negative posts might possibly discourage someone new from trying the system, I thought I'd take a moment to write about my very positive experience.

I live in Washington, DC, and had asked "Santa" (my 80 year old Dad and 77 year old Mom) for a Linksys wireless router with Vonage ports for Christmas. When I went down to their home in North Carolina for the holidays, my Dad presented my gift to me on Christmas eve. I immediately went onto the Vonage website, entered the requested information, connected my router to a port on my Mom's wireless router, and had my phone service within five minutes. Although I was waiting for the transfer of my local number, I was able to use the temporary number the entire time while visiting my folks. When I returned to DC, I plugged the router into my modem, disconnected the apartment wiring from the outside world, and had service to all the phones in my apartment within a few minutes. The quality was crystal clear -- actually better than I'd had with POTS -- and my number was transferred about two weeks later.

My parents were so impressed with my experience, that they decided that they'd like to try it, themselves. Several weeks ago, Mom replaced her router with a new one with Vonage ports, and signed up for service. Her number was transferred on Wednesday of this week, and, with a little help from me, Mom and Dad were able to disconnect the house from POTS and connect Vonage service to all six (yes, six) phones in the house. They couldn't be happier.

I'm sorry that so many folks have had so many problems in getting Vonage service; however, I suspect that the majority of people who haven't had problems have just been silent. So, I thought I might a bit vocal about my (and my parents') problem-free experience.

What a great success story! Thanks for sharing. My experience was the same. I've referred a dozen people who have all had positive experiences and no-fuss, no-muss installations.

Its good to hear from someone else who actually likes Vonage. Lol

As a New customer, I was reading lots of post about Line transfer and quality.

Now, After one month. I am almost 99.99% satisfied customer.

0.01 % for International call. But Vonage is just perfect for me.

Heartly Thank you Vonage

When people lurk on sites like this they have to realize that the majority of the posters on this forum are the ones that are having difficulty with their service. Happy, satisfied customers are not searching for a Vonage forum just to say how happy they are.

When you compare how many people are posting negative comments about Vonage, to how many Customers Vonage has you will see that it is a small percentage of unhappy people. Of course, not all the unhappy people are posting here but you get the point. Regardless, I am glad to hear your positive experience. It is a nice change.

Thanks for sharing your experience.

I lurked and read peoples experiences with Vonage and different providers before I signed up and you're absolutely right. It's just as important and not to mention helpful to share a positive experience as you did. For the simple reason letting people know that this service does work for a lot of people. If it doesn't then it could be a technical issues, ie hardware, internet access, power supply. Wink

It's also helpful to remain objective when reporting. I found he people who were not aggravated by service problems tended to offer better feedback when sharing their troubleshooting solution.

I have to admit that the setup was plain and simple for me as well and the service and plan is exceptional.

Cheers

This is one good example of good experience..........

I did sign up with Vonage on jan 14. Then I called customer service for something and he suggested to visit this forum. I was concerned about my line transfer... Vonage is saying 20 business days for line transfer. But becuase of some Vonage customer line transfer bad experience, I was under tension.... But mine line transfer took in before 20 days. within 20 days, I was reading this forum everyday..... I was so much worried about my line transfer..........

But suppose, if I never heard of this forum, then I would have just wait for 20 business days to transfer and enjoy vonage...........

Well, overall, Vonage has did best for me about line transfer
