I live in Atlanta and use Comcast. For about the last 3 weeks my Vonage has become unreliable. Either I can't hear the other party or they can't hear me. This makes talking on the phone impossible. My neighbor is having the same problem. He says comcast promises to come out and check his system on Wednesday(this is Monday). Meanwhile he has disconnected Vonage and is relying on his cellphone. We will both probably have to dump Vongage as it does not seem to work for us anymore.

Update 2/11/05: I was using a 6 year Toshiba PCX1000 cable modem. 3 days ago I replaced my aging cable modem with a Motorola Surfboard SB5100. I got the SB5100 at Office Depot for net $69 after a $20 mail in rebate. Now my phone system works fine. My fax is also working once again. So it looks like I will be staying with Vonage after all.

I am in Indianapolis and having no problems currently with Comcast. All though the more problems I keep seeing pop up with Vonage, makes me want to switch back to the over prices phone company..

The people that are having issues with Vonage while using Comcast as your broadband, Can you still surf and at good speeds or is the whole system down?... I can probably guess that most of the issues are with Vonage and not Comcast... When I had a problems last week with phone I was able to access the internet just fine with great speeds.

you're evidently having packet loss/discards somewhere along the way. what cable modem are you using? what kind of results do you get from testyourvoip.com (detailed results).
accessing the internet fine with great speeds doesn't necessarily mean you're not having massive packet loss. look at these comcast/pcx1100 threads:

I have found the threads on teh toshiba modem (which I have) and plan to try switching it. It seems a bit strange that it would work fine for seven motnhs and then suddenly stop, but I've been thinking about replacing it anyway.

I hope that fixes the problem, because it is clear now that Vonage simply doesn't provide any customer service...

I am one of the people that have been having problems with Vonage and Comcast. Actually, I was having problems with Vonage and Adelphia first, so I just recently switched to Comcast. On Adelphia, I was getting lots of packet loss and low QoS scores via the Voip Speed Test. So after I changed over to Comcast, I ran the Voip Speed Test and I was getting great QoS scores with no packet loss.

The bad news was that I was still not getting good sound quality with my Vonage service, so I disconnected my Vonage service and reconnected my local phone company. Now for the interesting part, people were still complaining that they could not hear me. It turns out that my portable phone appears to be the culprit. I don't remember the exact model, but it is a fairly expensive Panasonic 5.8 GHz portable phone.

I replaced the phone with an older 2.4 GHz phone and reconnected my Vonage service just last night. I have only made a few phone calls so far, but everyone has said that it was very clear sounding.

Sorry for the long slightly off-topic post, but I am just so excited that I might get to keep the Vonage service after all. My wife is still not convinced that all the problems are fixed, but she is willing to give it another try.

Comcast on the NW side of Atlanta is not working well with PAP2. Everyone I spoke with this past weekend said that they could not understand me. I had to use my cell phone in order to talk with people.

Just started last evening...dropped calls...Comcast on East Side Atlanta (Decatur at LaVista ITP)...both my PAP2 and my RT31P2...

To correct I have to power cycle my cable modem. I'm phoning Comcast to find out more.

I too am on Comcast using the Toshiba 1100U withOUT issues! On January 26th Comcast started upgrading their speeds for residential users. Checkout the Comcast HSI forums on dslreports.com for a complete listing. Here in the Boston area (including New Hampshire) we were upgraded on the 26th. Try rebooting your cable modem (necessary for the upgrades to take effect) and see if that doesn't help. If not, it very well may be the Toshiba modem. Generally people either went with a newer Toshiba or the new SB modems. Please let us know what you find.

Comcast in San Francisco Bay Area. Motorola adapter. Seems like every since a maintenance work about 2 weeks ago, my adapter keeps disconnecting during all calls now. Of course, Vonage does not reply to any emails or answer the phone for technical support.

It seems to me that those of you who acknowledge having trouble with Comcast then blame Vonage for your difficulties. Seek out a solution with Comcast out there in varying parts of the country. It seems to me that Reebok made some excellent suggestions. Has anyone tried them?
