I just configured the system today and it was working flawlessly. I left it unattended for about 1 hr, came back and got an earful of static when I picked up the handset.

Since then:

Reset router - no difference
Rebooted computer - twice, no difference
Noticed that Mcafee did an update while I was out

Any ideas?

No - no similarities to the 900MHz post. As a matter of fact I've been using it side by side with my Siemens 2.4G handset all day and no problems.

Some other interesting tidbits:

I was able to receive a call through the static. Had caller try again and static did not go away. I just tried an ougiong call and was unsuccessful.

Disconnect and reconnect the Rj11 doesn't make a difference.

Voip test 5 mins ago shows 3Mdn, 284kup and 97% QoS rating, max delay = 31 ms - I would say all of this indicates a solid connection.

Hmmm....

I figured out my sudden static issue. It's pretty interesting.

My router is connected to an APC UPS. Therefore the power line to the router is filtered by the APC. I have ceiling (can) lights in my office, so the router doesn't sit next to a lamp, or extension chord, etc., However power runs through same wiring in wall,, but APC should filter it to some degree.

The hour that I was gone, it got darker out, so I turned on the can lights in my office when I returned. I just turned them off as an experiment and sure enought the static went away. Then for grins: lights on = static, lights off = no static, lights on = static, lights off = no static ......

There are several possible explanations for this. I'll try some stuff and post back if I find something interesting.

I mentioned earlier that I have an APC UPS unit. My computer, routers and cable modem are powered by it. I turned off the computer completely and the static induced by the lights went away. Light on or light off, no static either way.

So - I suspect the PC was picking up the 60Hz hum from the office lights and thowing it out as garbage on the "clean" side of the APC UPS.

I may just pick up another APC unit just for the Voip hardware.

Okay, here's an update.

Turns out the PC is not necessarily picking up 60 hz hum. After more digging it may be a loading issue on my house circuit. The circuit which runs the office (and Voip hardware) is shared with the family room. In the evening the load on this circuit increases as lights and TV are turned on. During the day and light loads, no static. During the evening and heavy loads there is static.
