PostPosted: Sat Jul 23, 2005 9:11 am    Post subject: xpro recognizing bluetooth Reply with quote Back to top

I now have a jabra freespeak 250 and its been paired correctly with my computer. The problem I'm having now is getting x-pro to recognize the headset. The sound is just coming from the computer itself. I'm trying to use the audio tuning wizard to no avail. The audio device settings give me choices of default and SigmaTel C Major audio. I've tried both.

Can someone help? Thanks.

In Softphone go to Menu, User Settings.

You will see:
Speaker Audio Device
Microphone Audio Device
Ring Audio Device.

You need to change at least the Speaker and Microphone to Bluetooth Audio Device. I left my ring audio device set to the onboard audio so I don't have to wear the headset to hear it ring.

If you don't have a Bluetooth Audio Device listed, you may need to update your Bluetooth Stack.

I have been using a bluetooth headset too and I love it. But, when the headset is selected in the softphone as the audio device, The phone doesnt ring through the pc speakers. Anyone have any solution for this?

In Softphone, got to Munu, User settings.

Change the "Ring Audio Device" from Bluetooth Audio Device to your soundcard. Then it will ring through the PC speakers.

I think a better solution is a product such as this:

Something that lets you use your bluetooth headset through either a landline or cell connetion both at home and away. Not sure about the softphone because when you have to have your computer up to use it. When do you use a softphone where a Voip landline or Cell phone aren't better?

My softphone sounds better than the Linksys router, but that's a whole other can of worms. I use the Softphone 90% of the time and my cell phone about 8% of the time. The other 2% is on the Voip landline and its aweful.

That is why I wish Vonnage had unlimited plans on my softphone instead of my landline that I use barely 5 min a month on.

My problem is that there is no bluetooth audio device shown. How do you reset the stack? I don't have any services shown when I go to control panel - bluetooth - and select properties for the jabra 250.

You probably need to update to a stack that supports the Bluetooth Audio Gateway profile.
I do not think the generic XP Bluetooth Stack supports Bluetooth Audio. You need to use the one from your manufacturer.

I am using the Widcomm 1.4.3.4 Bluetooth stack.

Here is a great "How-to" from another message board.

Well, it took alot of work, but it is finally now working! I have a dell pc with bluetooth so I downloaded the toshiba bluetooth stack from dell. I had to do this a couple of times but it finally worked. Jabra won't provide tech support on this - they said their headsets are made to use with cell phones so they don't support using it with a pc.

Thanks for the help on this.

No problem. Glad it worked.

Now if someone would just make a bluetooth stack that supports hands-free profile so I could answer calls from the headset, I'd be really happy!

My next problem is that I hear really bad static when I'm on the softphone. This was not happening when using the usb headset. It happens both at home and at work - one is thru cable modem and the other is regular dsl. My thoughts are it must be either the headset itself (Jabra 250) or something in the connection with the computer, but I don't know what to change. I've done the Audio Tuning Wizard a few times but that doesn't seem to change anything.

Any suggestions? TIA

You could be getting static noise from your laptop or any other stuff that sits near the laptop. I do not have much static with my built in card, but I get a lot of static when I use it with my cell phone.

Jabra blaims ALL static on exterior influences, and not on their design.

My personal opinon is that every radio device is capable of static in the right settings, the trick is to find a set that works well together.
