Just spent a few hours yesterday trolling for info, then made purchase -

Headset = Logitech Mobile Freedom ($50 or less everywhere)
Bluetooth USB dongle = Targus ACB10US ($40 at Office Depot)

Worked sweet!

Thanks for the advice!! I just happened on this forum and I'm glad I did. I bought the Logitech and Targus adapter and it works great!!

Nope. There are no Windows drivers that support a "hands-free" Bluetooth profile, which is what is required to use the buttons on the headset. Likewise, Softphone doesn't support the input if the was a hands-free profile.

So, until both Windows/Widcomm and Softphone are updated, you will not be able to use it for anything other than a wireless headset.

In device manager, what is the driver manufacturer and the version for your Belkin adapter?

The Microsoft driver will not work, you need the Widcomm driver version 1.4.3.2 or higher to support a bluetooth headset.

Hello, thanks for all of the info on using bluetooth headsets with SoftPhone. I've got a Motorola headset in the mail that I intend to use with mine. However, my new Dell Inspiron 700m does not have an internal bluetooth adapter. I would like to buy one, but not a USB model -- I would prefer a PCMCIA Bluetooth adapter so that (a) I don't need to remember to bring with me all the time, and (b) it doesn't stick out / get broken off, etc.

Any suggestions? After a thorough search, these seem very difficult to find. Preferably, I'd like it to be Bluetooth 1.2 compatible.

Thanks in advance!

Now if someone would just make a bluetooth stack that supports hands-free profile so I could answer calls from the headset, I'd be really happy!

Might this also work with Softphone?

Hi,
I bought jabra BT3010 bluetooth headset and bluetooth USB adapter. I want to use it with V-talk softphone. I can hear the incoming call but when click on the jabra's button to answer the call, I can not establish a connection.
If I pick up the phone manually trough the softphone, there is no problem with answering and ending the calls and the connection is very clear, but I have to go any time to the computer to pick up the phone.

Any suggestions?

The fit and comfort of a bluetooth headset is a highly personal matter. What feels good to one person is unusable to another. Without knowing the geometry of your ears and your sensitivity to pressure.
