Laura,

I assume you are following the other advice to put your RT31P2 before your wireless router. (That's the opposite order of what I recommended, but that will work. )

Anyway, if you did not read my instructions because you are using a different approach at least look at step #5 in my instructions. If you interrupt the device while it is doing a firmware update, you may fry it!

Tell us which arrangement you are using now, and we'll all try to help. There are advantages and disadvantages to each. The major advantage of putting the RT31P2 in front of your wireless router is that you will be able to use QoS to give priority to your phone over computers and other devices. If you have a lot of bandwidth and/or do not use bandwidth-intensive programs while on the phone, you don't need to bother with QoS. I have a high bandwidth connection and have never needed QoS even when downloading large files on my computers while on a call.

Yes, the router is between the modem and the wireless. I waited longer than the 5 minutes before I checked the phone. The power light was solid after a very short time. The ethernet light is also solid. There is no light on the phone lights (except the rare flash of both of them) and the internet light is flashing, but I assume that's normal because my modem's light flashes too.

Yes, that's what the box says and that's what the front of the router says.

OK, your firmware has NOT been updated to 1.27.1 yet, so be careful. If you see a lot of blinking activity, don't disturb the unit, as it may be receiving the firmware update.

To try to get the firmware to be accepted if it is in a que (or sent to you automatically if not already qued), you should reset the RT31P2. To do that hold the reset button down for at least 15 seconds and then release it. Then wait for at least five minutes and watch for blinking lights.

Then check the firmware version again.

If you still do not have 1.27.1, then you should send a PM to ssantana (a senior tier 2 technician at Vonage) asking him to send you the firmware update. (He'll need your account number, phone number and MAC address of your RT31P2.) He will push it over the air and the RT31P2 should update itself without any action on your part except to reset the device again.

did you click Status? if not, be sure to do that and then it should say things like Voice version, Line1 status and Line2 status. I'm interested in what it says next to Line1 status.
I'm wondering if 1.25 was a weird firmware, because you seem to have a lot different information than 1.24.xx and 1.27.01.

This is what voice says:
Voice Version: 2.0.12(LI)
There is nothing else after all the other stuff on that page.

Is it ok to reset without unplugging and disconnecting everything or should I do that before I reset? Also, the only blinking light is the internet light. That is ok, right?

the power light blinks during a firmware update. that may have been said already not sure. the internet light is supposed to blink. your phone light will be solid but will blink while on a call.
to me it looks like you aren't connecting to Vonage, or perhaps a firmware update already messed up. I asked earlier what the first tftp test said, and how many times did you try it? also, what did the second test say exactly?

Current Voice Version is 2.0.13(LI), which comes as part of the 1.27.01 firmware update.
