Well my Vonage kit came in the mail today but I won't be using it. I should of waited until Comcast internet was installed before I ordered it.

They said that in front of my house is the main trunk line and fiber optics which they can't tap into to run to my house. He said there may be other options but he didn't specify (got this on a voicemail). Seems silly that I have lines right across the street from me on poles and I can't use them. Oh well.

Have you looked at other service providers? Where do you live? Maybe I can recommend a few non traditional sources, if the traditional ones are unavailable.

Just because your right next to the lines themselves doesn't mean you can get their service. Kind of like getting on the freeway in the middle & not at an onramp. In the case of DSL, you have to be at least a certain distance from their Central Office. I assume cable is similar. The copper has to be in place from their Central Office to your place...... or at least close to your place.

So am I to presume that you can't get CC Cable TV either? Can't provide one without the other.

I don't know of any other services providers in my area. I've got DSL and then there's Comcast (who SAID I was in an area that has it). For microwave connection there's www.thebluezone.com in my area but not in my zip code. I also heard that wireless service like that isn't good for Voip. I'm in Kaysville, UT zip code 84037.

I haven't looked into getting cable tv from Comcast, I like my DirecTV.

I wonder what they would say if you told them you want cable TV. You may need to get that installed just so that you'll be able to get the cable modem. For some reason they won't run a wire to you for the cable modem, but they have to for TV service...that's mandated here in Nashville, so maybe it's the same where you live.

Interesting. The reason the sup said he can't get me the high speed internet is because they can't tap into a main trunk line so I don't see how they would be able to do it for cable tv. The guy isn't very responsive. I left a voicemail asking what the "options" are that he mentioned but didn't elaborate on. I still haven't heard back from him.
