I'm trying to slow down my fax machine to 9600 baud and I'm not sure what the settings are. Has anyone done this successfully? I can get to the r/w parameter setting but need input beyond this step; ie 23 = 9600 thanks |

Were you able to successfully reset the baud rates on the HP 5110? I have a 6110, and another post in the forum lists the commands for that and I have used them to successfully send faxes with my Vonage fax line. But I have a co-worker with a 5110, and he is trying to get his Vonage fax to send as well, and can't. Will the instructions for the 6110 work on the 5110 as well? |

I was able to reset the baud rate on my HP Officejet 5510 AIO using the following sequence. 9600 baud still did not work -- 7200 seemed to work fine.
I used this post on the HP website as a template.
It took some experimentation to find a setting that worked consistently. Luckly, I do not send or receive many large faxes so the slower baud rate is really not an issue.
The following are the steps to change the parameters:
1.Press * and # at the same time, and then release both keys. Something like "******#######" should appear in the display.
2.Press 1, 2, and then 3, releasing each key before pressing the next.
3.The display window should read "Service" with a revision number.
4. Press the right arrow button until "System Configuation" appears in the display.
5. Press OK
6.Press the right arrow button until "r/w parameter" appears in the display.
7.Press OK
8.The display should read "parameter 0"
9.From the table below, identify the parameter value you wish to modify and press the corresponding number(s) for that parameter on the keypad.
Transmission Speed: - Enter "153" - Press OK - The current value will display - Enter "3" for V.17 7200 baud - Press OK
Receive Speed: - Enter "159" - Press OK - The current value will display - Enter "3" for V.17 7200 baud - Press OK
10.When modifications are complete, press Cancel repeatedly until the date and time appear in the display.
=====================================================
The parameter for changing the sending transmission speed is 153 and for receiving it is 159. They will have the following options:
0 = V.17 14400
1 = V.17 12000
2 = V.17 9600
3 = V.17 7200
4 = V .33 14400
5 = V .33 12000
6 = V.29 9600
7 = V.29 7200
8 = V.29 4800
9 = V.27 4800
10 = V.27 2400
26 = V.34 33600 |
