if you go to http://www.vonage-forum.com/voip-speed-test and look where the large text says "Vonage Voip Speed Test Results - Explained & Discussed" you will find an explanation of how it measures qos.

Yeah I looked that up but I don't see anywhere indicating what an acceptable QoS level is. I know when the test runs it tells me I should be able to support 4 simultaneous Voip connections, so that would seem to indicate the QoS isn't anything to worry about.

depends on what you mean by acceptable. it's really more of a line/speed test than a vonage/voip test. all it's doing is looking at your maximum speed and minimum speed on a download. if they fluctuate greatly, your qos % will be lower. if it stays virtually the same, your qos will be high. so you could download at 1k/s consistently and get 100% qos.
all in all, the qos hardly applies to Vonage. if the highest quality codec uses ~9K/s upstream, how much less does the downstream use? because in Voip, it's all about the upstream.
so really that could be taken off and would probably save a lot of confusion.

*thanks reebok for the information.* Exactly what I thought too for most part but not sure. Toddler you got some trouble shooting to do and start with any of those suggestions I mentioned. Anything that I did say there is not needed for file sharing or the like. Sounds like its a cable issue...but take that with a grain of salt.

I get the same numbers when I plug my PC straight into the cable modem, so that knocks out all the UPnP/QoS tests. And I get similar numbers from a friend's house who is also on Comcast cable about two miles from here.
