Odd thing happened the other night. I had to flip the unit over to get the MAC address in order to get the firmware upgrade. The unit just falls apart, the front comes off, the back slides off, etc.
My suspicion is that having them crank the voltage to 90VAC so all my phones ring generates enough heat to have disintegrated what little glue Linksys used to keep these babies together.
Is this unusual? |

I have never heard of anything like this happening. If you purchased the unit, it has a 1 year warranty. If you ordered it through Vonage, they will send you another free of charge.
I doubt that the increase in voltage could have caused this. We are talking mere milliamps here. Not enough power to heat anything up. If excess heat was apparent, you would more likely smell the lead getting soft and smoking. |

Did you buy it new? I've seen the cases fall of refurbished routers/etc before. |

No, Vonage shipped it to me. So they're on the hook for a replacement.
I'll wait until they start shipping the updated RT31P2's that don't have the noise problems. |

The RT31P2 Firmware upgrade has been here for a while:

This is upgrade v1.27.01. You probably already have it installed in your present unit. Found at the top of the Web-based Utility page. |

Two things... my Linsys was shipped on 2/1 and had 1.26. Don't know if/when they are coming with 1.27...
And, my router fell off the desk to the plastic floor guard (for the chair on the carpet, you know what I mean...) and the front popped off, also. I snapped it back on, no problem. Definitely a new unit. But the front panel of Linksys routers/switches are easy to dislodge. (Of course, my warranty seal is now broken... ) |

I was pulling out a wire on my brand new unit and the case came off. Mine also was shipped very recently by Vonage. I was able to just snap it back on, though. |
