Where can one find the Firefox extension referred to here?

The other is a Firefox browser extension that allows one to dial a phone number from a web page. That one is distributed by another member of this forum.

It seems to work only for with the Vonage phone; when I use this with call forwarding, the call is dropped as soon as I pick up the forwarded phone (i.e., the "forward to" number). But it has potential...

JonABQ,

I believe Vonage does this on purpose. Otherwise, people with unlimited accounts could let their friends or themselves have unlimited calling to/from anywhere in the United States with no need to actually carry the ATA with you or even have Internet access at that location if you set up call forwarding in advance.

It seems ripe for potential phone fraud both against Vonage and other providers, but it would be cool if they did have it.

I found the following links on the Vonage site (only through the site map).

The first is a "developer's center" page: http://www.vonage.com/features.php?feature=developers

The second link gives examples of URLs that can be used to initiate calls, as well as examples to make calls from php and java: https://secure.click2callu.com/

I use an asp web page to display speed dial buttons on my kitchen computer. I use this to initiate calls, to commonly "dialed" numbers.. It's really about the same as using the outlook plugin, but a little more convenient.

One feature I'd like to see is a url that would return the number of new phone messages waiting. I'd code up my home automation system to check this every 15 minutes, and then annouce the number of new voicemail messages over the home intercom system. I often forget to pick up the phone reciever to listen to the stutter tone, in order to see if I have new messages.

I have it installed and it seems to be a problem connecting with my wife's wireless phone and her work phone. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. When it doesn't she gets upset with me for even bothering with it since I have the numbers in my phone book.

And it charges me a call even if it doesn't ring on her side.

I find the Firefox extension to be VERY helpful. I use it all the time. I search for stuff all the time on the internet. For example, instead of looking through the physical yellow pages, like the telephone companies deliver, I search online yellow pages. When I find the place I want to call, I highlight the phone number and right-click. I choose to call the number. IF there was only one number on the page, I wouldn't need to highliht the number, but if there are multiple numbers, it's easier to highlight. No more writing the number down. It's quite cool.
