I don't remember exactly when I first got Vonage, but it was at least a year ago. It worked perfectly out of the box, and has exceeded my expectations ever since then. Until recently, that is.
I am in Orlando, Fl (in case it matters) and noticed problems starting a few weeks ago. Usually in the mornings I would have various problems, including long ring times ending in a fast busy signal, call drops 30 seconds into the call, and the popular "I can hear them but they cant hear me" problem.
I work in the IT industry and am generally pretty tolerant of these things since I know how technology can be, so I just shrugged these problem off and figured they would go away by themselves. Now that a few days has stretched into a few weeks, I am getting worried.
I continue to have service issues. Many of my friends in the area who I talked into Vonage are also complaining about the same types of trouble. Just this morning I took a call from a friend of mine whom I had setup Vonage for about poor service. He was calling me from his Vonage line and was dropped 30 seconds into the call. He called back, twice, with the same results. My boss (whom I also refereed to Vonage) got fed up this week and canceled. I'm sure many of my other referrals are about to follow suit...
I'm not posting this to complain, but rather in the hope that somebody here has some *real* answers as to what is going on and when it will be fixed. And I don't mean the standard company line of "Customer service is our number 1 priority and we are always working to improve blah blah blah"; I mean genuine answers. Also, please don't imply that it may be my setup or my ISP since many of my friends with the same issues have different providers, including DSL and 2 different cable companies, and different types of ATA devices. The problems we are having are clearly with Vonage itself.
Like I said, since Vonage had previously worked so well for me for so long, I am inclined to wait these problems out as long as I can see some kind of light at the end of the tunnel. However I cannot simply sit tight on a sinking ship if that is where this company is headed. Sorry for the long rant. Any advice or information from anybody that is really "in the know" would be greatly appreciated. |

I wonder that we don't see a response to your inquiry. I have a relative in Orlando who is looking into Voip, and I was able to refer this thread to him. It will be interesting to see if you are able to report to us what happens.[/quote] |

You've had Vonage for about a year and just in last couple of days joined forum and two posts have been negative. Things that make you go 'hmmmm'! |

But in his defense, the average user probably doesn't go looking until they actually have a problem. |

That is true. Though recently there have been incidents similar to this. I found the forum when I was looking into getting Vonage. |

I also live in Orlando. No problems whatsoever with my Vonage service. I'm using Brighthouse cable But it also worked well with Sprint DSL. |

Yeah. It's probably a mix. I found the forum when I was so frustrated I just wanted to complain somewhere. |

To BigDenMD: You don't really think I am some kind secret agent for the competition, do you? Let me clear this up for anyone who is interested - I am a real live person. I work for InTek Computers in Orlando, Fl. There are 2 other real, live people here who also have Vonage, and 1 person who had them until about a week ago. Anybody who doesn't think I am who I say feel free to stop by and see.
bbtrumpetguy: I know that I have found my *problem*, what I am looking for is a *solution*.
To anyone at Vonage who actually cares: From my posts I realize that it must look like I have come here just because I want to whine and complain. I don't. What I want is my Vonage back. What I want is the awesome service that I had for over a year. What I want is all these problems to go away or at least some kind of real time frame as to when they will. What I want is for you to force me to eat my words when I say that I think Vonage is going downhill and won't recover. That is what I want. |
