April 9, 2005 Awaiting Letter of Authorization
April 9, 2005 Letter of Authorization (LOA) Received
April 9, 2005 Transfer Sent to Carrier

It's been over a month now since I sent in the transfer letter. The tough part is that upon receiving the letter from Vonage, Verizon shut my phone off immediately. It says on the site that the phone number must be active in order to make the transfer but if the phone is disconnected as a result of the transfer letter being sent to Verizon, I don't know how they expect it will ever go through. I have been without a phone for 5 weeks now. And Vonage cannot give me an idea when the phone will work. They started off by saying it was a 20 day process, then they say it's 20 business days, then it was 20 to 30 business days, now they say it is a minimum of 20 days but can take up to 3 months. I have talked to a dozen different people at Vonage and they all tell me something different except that all know for sure that this is all Verizon's fault. Another funny thing is that my co-working tells me the exact same thing happened to him switching from Verizon to Vonage. You can bet I will not be using their refer a friend program.

Finally both of my lines have ported!

Line # 1
March 19, 2005 Awaiting Letter of Authorization
March 19, 2005 Letter of Authorization (LOA) Received
March 19, 2005 Transfer Sent to Carrier
May 19, 2005 Carrier Approved Transfer
May 20, 2005 Completed LNP Transfer

Line # 2
March 25, 2005 Awaiting Letter of Authorization
March 26, 2005 Letter of Authorization (LOA) Received
March 26, 2005 Transfer Sent to Carrier
April 28, 2005 Carrier Approved Transfer
April 29, 2005 Completed LNP Transfer

My second line ported in only five weeks and I had submitted it a week after my first line. It took nine weeks for my first line to port!!

I called Vonage customer service and emailed them several times about LIne # 1 and they were very nice and said that they would credit me back since I was paying for both Verizon and Vonage services. I called them yesterday and they credited me for two months and were very nice about it!! I've been quite pleased so far....

Very Happy

Verizon Virginia:

Request submitted March 14 - still waiting.

Customer service on this from Vonage horrible, until I started threatening to terminate service.

My paperwork was submitted in 4/7/05...still waiting for the number transer, but Vonage customer support has been superb. I am waiting for this to happen, but Vonage has offered to credit my account for my inconvenience. It is not Vonage's fault for the delay in transer, it is Verizon. Just think about who has the motive to delay the release of the number, and it all makes sense.

How credit have you recieved? I have been billed for 2 months so far, and when I called to check the status, they credited 1 month. I questioned why I had been billed anything and they went on about a virtual number had been assigned and I could use that. Just curious if you have been given full credit to date or still on the hook for 1 month?

John

I received one month's credit ($14.99) because I have only been a a customer since 4/7/05. The first month doesn't really count because they tell you up front it will take 20 business days. I am into my second month, and they willingly issued a credit because of the delay in transfer. I did have to ask for it though, they didn't just throw it at me. The way I placed the question was "at what point does Vonage start to credit my account until the number is transferred?"

My Verizon line was active until midnight on the 17th, but was dead the next morning. Woohoo! I haven't had any problems at all since the port, except a couple people reporting a slight echo on their end. I haven't investigated the reason for that, though.
