Did you call their SERVICE DEPT or just the "customer service" dept? Service would be the repair/trouble department. If you just call their standard customer service lines you are talking to India. You need to call SERVICE and ask them why your service was disconnected and by whom. Don't even bother with PONs. Just ask why and who.

i never called verizon until my phone had been disconnected on march 30. i called verizon back today to ask about the pon number and the carrier it was released to. the rep on the phone siad i had no idea what i was tlaking about and that they did not have any info like that. When i asked to be transfer to someone that could rep said that there was no one there that could tell me anything.

Verizon - North Carolina
April 4, 2005 Letter of Authorization (LOA) Received
April 4, 2005 Transfer Sent to Carrier
April 13, 2005 Carrier Approved Transfer
April 13, 2005 Completed LNP Transfer
9 days isn't too shabby, ehh? I did make sure that all the data on my bill and
Vonage
account were exact matches AND sent them a bill that had just come (so that it certainly wouldn't be more than 30 days old). Funny thing is that it actually switched over yesterday morning (April 12) and got my confirmation emails this morning. Knock on wood, but the switch has been completely transparent as far as voice quality goes...

Also...did not change my home network setup:
Linksys Cable Modem ---> Linksys 8 port Router ----> drops & Linksys RT31P2 -----> phone
All working great.

Called the LNP department last night and received an e-mail this morning stating that I have a tenative transfer date of 4/26/05. Why doesn't it say that on my dashboard?
*UPDATE* Just went to Verizon.com and my billing information is unavailable now. Looked under the order status section and it now shows "Disconnect service" Due date 4/28/05. YES! Now my only question is what would have happened had I not called last night to escalate the issue? It appears that most likely it would have sat there at Paetec. It's clear that issue is not with
Vonage
or Verizon, it's with Paetec. I think having a 3rd party is just asking for trouble. It leaves too many opportunities for the ball to be dropped. Hopefully
Vonage
will eventually deal with LNP "in house" soon.

Mine finally happened too!!!! I've been in FL on vacation and when I got home my Verizon line was dead and website had been updated. Interestingly too, was that I had a letter from Paetec dated April 13th saying they were investigating my complaint with the FCC about porting my number and it happened a week later. Coincident??? Maybe, maybe not!!!
February 28, 2005 Transfer Sent to Carrier
April 20, 2005 Carrier Approved Transfer
April 20, 2005 Completed LNP Transfer

After a little over a month, the transfer from verizon to
Vonage
is going to occur ...
March 15, 2005 Awaiting Letter of Authorization
March 19, 2005 Letter of Authorization (LOA) Received
March 19, 2005 Transfer Sent to Carrier
April 25, 2005 Carrier Approved Transfer
Transfer Date: April 26, 2005
Not a horror story by any means, but also not too speedy.

I just saw your post and checked out my status too. It's finally been updated!

Now the only thing I'm questioning is why it still says 4/28/05 on Verizon.com...
