Well, I emailed
Vonage
for a status of my LNP and surpising enough I got a response all ready as follows:
The carrier has issued a tentative transfer date for
04-07-2005. Please keep in mind that this date is subject to change
and is not necessarily the date your transfer will take place. We
will send you a notification when the date is finalized by the
carrier. Also paeTec is handling the transfer.
Sincerely,
Hetan
LNP Department
866-496-6359
What's the consensus from folks who have gotten this tentaive date? 50-50 chance it happens by then or not a chance in
.

thebeav,
I was just curious if there was any indication on Vonage's site that the tentative date was set. Does your LNP status page still just show "Transfer Letter sent to Carrier" or has it gone to the next step? I'm just trying to save some time on hold since we submitted our LOA's at about the same time.
Thanks!

kashou,
my status page hasn't changed either, still says "Transfer letter sent to carrier". I emailed
Vonage
and they replied with that tentative date. I had also asked who the 3rd party vendor was that ws doing the transfer and that's why they mentioned Paetec.

December 7, 2004 Awaiting Letter of Authorization
December 8, 2004 Letter of Authorization (LOA) Received
December 8, 2004 Transfer Sent to Carrier
So, here are the dates that appear on my
Vonage
account. My
Vonage
phone started ringing about mid-January though. So, as of today (3-24-05), we are still awaiting authorization even though, I have had no other service than
Vonage
since January 15.

I would suggest that those of you waiting more than a month for the transfer file a complaint with the fcc. I feel that
Vonage
paid more attention to my problem after that. The transfer happened 20 days after I filed my complaint.

After 6 months of waiting and broken promise after broken promise I canceled my
Vonage
service on 3/25 as they were unable to transfer my line without stating a reason.
Good luck to the rest of you who are having trouble with Paetec, I voted with my feet and am now using AT&T Callvantage service.

Post subject: Number transfer Verizon to Vonage
Hello,
I am in the Northern Virginia area and my landline is with Verizon. The Transfer has been a nightmare. I have been waiting 5 months now:
October 22, 2004 Awaiting Letter of Authorization
October 29, 2004 Letter of Authorization (LOA) Received
October 29, 2004 Transfer Sent to Carrier
I have called
Vonage
almost every other week and have filed two FCC complaints. I just get a letter back from Verizon, that they haven't received a formal transfer request.
Vonage
has finally given me a date of March 31st or so that the transfer will be completed so we shall see. I am not going to hold my breath.

Verizon customer in Buffalo, NY.
Today is March 29, 2005. I see some have it much worse than I.
February 25, 2005 Awaiting Letter of Authorization
February 28, 2005 Letter of Authorization (LOA) Received
February 28, 2005 Transfer Sent to Carrier
I spoke to the LNP Dept. today and was told my transfer was set for April 7.
Since I have had my number for 25 years, I can't use the virtual number that
Vonage
gave me, other than making calls out. My concern is that instead of saving money on my phone bill, I am now paying Verizon and
Vonage
each month, which has just increased my phone expense. The Rep was very nice and explained things the best he could. He said that if the transfer was not made in a timely manner, I would not have to continue to pay for the service. I do see from some of the complaints, though, that getting the credit for these months of not being able to use the
Vonage
account can also be a very timely thing.

So am I the only one who is really, really annoyed at having to pay for Verizon and
Vonage
while I await the line transfer? I mean, I read about someone who's been waiting for a year. So how is that saving them money??? I would have terminate my service a long time ago. Saving money is the only reason I signed up for
Vonage
in the first place.

Nat,
I know you are not alone. I too switched just to save money. I've been waiting 25 business days now. I think the level of everyones annoyance is dependent on their situation. I went in to this knowing that if I had problems porting my number it wouldn't be a big deal for me to just keep the the temp number they give you as my new permanent number. Don't get me wrong, I really really prefer to keep my original number and am upset that this process is so difficult, but it's not a show stopper in my case. Just another view. Good luck.
