your 911 isn't broke. unfortunately it looks like that slipped by when you signed up for Vonage. supposedly E911 ("regular") is in the works with no ETA.

Well I don't really want a micky mouse phone but if it is a digital cordless, with large numbers, I will take it.
As for tyring it with Vonage again, I am scared to.
What if I try it and it don't work but puts it back on pulse. And...what if I throw it again and that don't fix it? Then what??? I would be practically out of a phone all togehter again. Well, I am not much of a gambler and think I will keep what I have right now. At least I have my tones again.
I hate to keep paying for Vonage when I am not using it but as sure as I disconnect it, then I will find the cordless phone I can use. I wish I could get out and hunt but I can't. I have not been in a store since 1995 and have only been out in the outside air about three times in that time and had to wear a mask. I am kind of like the "boy who lived in the bubble". I can't breathe hardly anything so I can't get out and find myself a phone.
You guys count your lucky stars that you can get out and about. It is like I am in jail except I have a TV, phone, and more room than a cell.
Later,
Donna

Donna,

Have you tried it again with Vonage now that you've "repaired" your GE phone? The problem might have been that it was trying to pulse dial, which Vonage cannot recognize. I expect you jarred the setting firmly back to Tone dialing when you smacked it, so it might now work with Vonage.

Following up on what Josh said above, there are not many (if any) cordless phones with large keys. I'll look around and let you know if I find anything. One idea might be to look at phones made for little children and tend to be shaped like Mickey Mouse Lol , but I think most (or all) of them are corded phones.

Donna,

Circuit City has a corded digital phone with huge keys for $14.99 on-line.

There's an enlarged picture of it at http://www.circuitcity.com/IMAGE/product/detail/clt/EC.CLT.SR20.RT.JPG.

To see the description or order it on-line, you can look HERE.

Hope that helps.

If you want to have an extension on your line, you can ask your son-in-law to get your a phone splitter and plug it into the phone port on your Vonage adapter. Then just plug both phone lines into that splitter. (Don't try using the other phone socket on the adapter, as it is not active unless you purchase two separate phone numbers from Vonage.)

Enjoy your weekend.

seattlezoid,

You win the prize! That's a great find and probably will be of interest to a lot of other folks here. And it's cheap too.

Thanks but I would rather have a cordless if I can find it. I am tyring to find a 5.8 ghz, digital cordless with large numbers. Fat chance probalby of finding it but that is what I want.
Thanks for your searching and help. I have two separate numbers with Vonage. One is a fax number and one is my phone number and then I have my MCI number. Will the fax number on Vonage work for a phone number too?

I just wonder if this corded phone will work with Vonage.

Later,
Donna

Gosh, that will work perfect if it will work with my Vonage.
I am having a hard time getting one that will work good. I had a vtech but it had all kinds of noise in the background not to mention the numbers were tiny. Then my son n law tried a couple more. One worked find as far as clarity but kept cutting me off for no reason. That was a uniden EXI5160.
I wonder if I get this and it don't work well, can I return it? Did it say what ghz it was and was it digital. I can't recall. I am going to go back and look at it some more.
Thanks for your info. It is very helpful.
I am finding this board very helpful.
Thanks so much.

I understood the sales person and the terms to say that it would be connected to an "emergency" service. If it was, I could get them to get me an ambulance. Mine is not connected to an emergency service. It is connected to a "non emergency service" at the police station. It says, "You have reached the non emergency number of the Fayetteville city police. and then it goes on and tells me if it is a life threatening situation, hang up and dial 911. That is what I dialed in the first place testing my 911 number. If they would route it to the emergency" number, then I could get an ambulance. Santana, hope is name is spelled correctly, is trying to get that fixed. He said he realized what the problem was and would do his best to get it fixed and then call me. So...I am patiently waiting on his call. Meantime I am keeping MCI basic service.
Thanx for your info,
Donna
