PostPosted: Fri Feb 11, 2005 7:32 pm    Post subject: 2.4ghz wifi and 2.4ghz cordless phone Reply with quote Back to top

I have a 2.4ghz wifi linksys router and a cheap vtech 2.4 ghz phone. I hear popings in the backround and callers hear a humming noise. I have the latest firmware and sufficient bandwith. The phone base is right next to the router.

I have the r31pt phone adapter.

Is this a Vonage issue or related to frq interferece and I just need a 900mhz or a 5.8ghz phone.

Thanks

Just move them as far apart as you can, I have the same setup and it works just fine.

Ive got about 1ft spacing, im in a small apt to if i move it much further away it will end up in the middle of my floor. Could the poping be from something else? or for an extra20$ should i just get 5.8?

Thanks for the replys

Are the power cables tangled? If so, move them apart first and see if that works.

I have 2.4 GHZ wireless (linksys) and 5.8 Ghz Vtech phones, no interference, though I did have to adjust the wireless handset channel on day one until all was clear.

See, the poping I've had in the past but it was not a wireless issue. At the time, I had the original Vonage - Cisco ATA 186 and I had a wire farm growing under my desk.

I had to disconnect everything and re-hook it all up again one by one. I never found the problem, but it did fix it.

Popping and humming is not a common problem with Vonage, nor is it a common frequency issue. Dropped calls can happen with frequency conflicts.

Can you plug in a corded phone first?

5.8? If you have tried everything else, then yes.
