To Neutral and other guy: You CAN call Vonage from another telephone... like a cell!! That's what I've been doing... and after going through their voice prompts, you just get a busy signal.... i'm not talking fast busy, just regular busy signal. This is a terrible way to hendle calls.... it should go into a cue and let you be on hold... or leave a message somewhere.

I like Vonage, but i certainly wouldn't rely on it for my only phone. Call customer service yourself... from ANOTHER phone and you'll see what i'm talking about.

If their customer service center operates on the same network, they might be expierencing the same issues you are. Whether it's going up and down, who knows. Smile

Yep , they are on the same system. Thats what I was told by one of their techs. He did tell me they have Verizon or SBC landline services to though.

I specifically asked in the past and they told me that their customer service lines are NOT Vonage lines... they are regular landline. They said it had to be this way due to the large numbers of telephones they have... whatever.

Nevertheless, even at regular working times.... i've called customer service and received busy signals... and when i later get through... they just say they were busy and that's how the system works. REALLY stupid system to put callers to a busy signal... rather than a cue.

If its truly busy more than likely that means they are out of trunks. Often times when this happens you will hear a carrier intercept message.

This is a good indicator. They need to add more PRI's to address that.

ok, picture this:

(They are having an outage) + (400,000 plus customers are calling all at once) = Fast busy at Customer Service

what i meant was, when you call customer service, it rings and the automated system answers.... but after you push a few choices... THEN you get a busy signal.

nevertheless, my outgoing calls seem to be working again... northeast area.

i'm a new customer, so hoping this was not a common occurrence.

You would get the busy signal after going through the system, because that's when you're dumped into a certain que.

No, this is not a frequent occurrence. Smile

This is the second time this exact same problem happened to me in the last week or so. It happened in 585 on January 31st as well. I have been documenting all Vonage issues. The irony here is that I was calling my local phone company to get info on their most basic phone line. I was considering moving my business line to Vonage and even ordered the service. I have the Linksys router sitting on my desk waiting to be hooked up. I think it will be returned now.

I can dial my voice mail and other Vonage numbers, why doesn't vongage use Vonage for customer service? I guess they can't handle the amount of calls, but it would be nice if we could dial *222 and get customer service.
