Hey guy's im a new Vonage customer.
Just got the service about a week ago and so far im having a lot of problems. I'm in Canada using Roger's cable 5mb service with a moterolla sb5100 modem. The router they sent me was an RT31P2. I got the network all hooked up and everything but when i place or recieve calls after about 10-30 seconds people can't hear me taljk anymore though i can still hear them until they hang up . I tried fiddling with some QoS setting but didnt have any luck so i switched it back to default. Any suggestions? |

what are you getting from testyourvoip.com detailed results? also, try running pingploter.com for an extended period of time. sounds like packets are getting dropped/delayed. |

well it looks like your problem could be those packet discards, especially since the problem is them hearing you. the first part, which would be uploading or them hearing you, is having some discards as you can see. but the second part, which would be download or you hearing them which you say is fine, doesn't have those discards. I'd run pingplotter for a bit and also call my cable modem company and have them do some line tests. there are also some tests at dslreports.com |

whatever you want. I think they have a couple in there by default. yahoo.com would be fine. |

I dunno, my isp has live chat and email support. I'm surprised yours doesn't at least have email support. |

I just had the same problem as this guy. In two months, no problems, but this morning after getting the device back online (check out "No dial tone, no lights" for details), a call to my sister consisted of her not hearing what I was saying for stretches ... after about 30-45 seconds I'd come back on for a while, then go out again. I could hear everything she said.
She called me back and the call went fine for 10 minutes.
I tried testyourVoip, per instructions here and they gave me a score of 1.0 ... something about 67 percent (burst) packet loss on the return trip from Boston.
I tried again a couple of minutes later and it was 4.3 for a pair of calls, one to Boston, one to Montreal.
What's going on and what should I do? |
