As this forum may or may not know, I am currently in the process of switching from DSL to cable. A cable guy from Brighthouse came in today and set up my cable connection.

When I switched my router from DSL to cable modem, my phone wasn't working. I tried re-setting the Linksys RT31P2, but it still wasn't working. I finally decided to do a total network reset: I turned off my cable modem, my router, and the Linksys. I turned each on one by one, waiting for them to fully boot up: and it worked!

My speed tests now report I can support 4 high speed Voip lines, and I've increased my bandwidth in the bandwidth saver. I am very happy with both my cable company and Vonage right now.

Now to sever the final connection with Sprint and attempt wiring my apartment for Vonage.

I am unfamiliar with what cable companies exist in Orlando. May I ask what cable company you went with and what speeds do they advertise?

My own ISP, Comcast, just raised it's data rates:

I wanted to note also...

My QoS went from 27% with Sprint DSL to 87% with EarthLink from Brighthouse. A great upgrade!

Actually, if you're already paying the extra for increased upload, then Comcast will be raising things from 4M/384k to 6M/768k.

Doubling the upload will be especially handy for working from home, and it'll mean that the overhead of Voip is more or less irrelevant. Still, either way the upgrade more than covers what your Vonage service consumes, so it's all good. Smile
