I am in Atlanta but, officially, receive my cable signal from the Stone Mountain system. My upgrade will be in another month to two. However, my friends two blocks down (on the Atlanta system!) are enjoying the benefits of faster broadband already! Isn't life wonderfull.

I download starting at 1.44 MBps from microsoft downloads and then it starts dropping but ussually stays at 730 or so, never less than 550 KBps, I run a computer repair business down here in key west FL and I realize my results are not typing most people at best get over 500 KBps, mine was a fight to get there, i used to get over 550 after the change to 4 to 5 (yes they did it again, atleast down here) then something happened with my lines and I was doing DSL speeds when almost 2 weeks pass I finally get it straightened out and ever since (few months now) I always see atleast 730 KBps upload speeds have doubled as well on the few sites that have connections and servers to offer these kinds of speeds, i upload to my ftp at over 500kbps which is like over 60 KBps, best of all i milked them for multiple offers so i got it for $4.95 a month for a year. Bellsouth costs more for their 1.5 and ask even more for 3 megs, they said they will go to 6 or 7 sometime this summer (2005) but knowing them they will charge $99.95 lol. |
