Post subject: Call Portability
Why are some areas not available for call portability? Also I know there is a place where you can get contacted if a certain area code becomes available but what I would like is a place to get contacted if a certain exchange number becomes available. I have a number in my area code but it is still long distance for everyone in my area to call because it is in a different city. Other than that I have been a customer for a week with zero problems. I have also converted 2 friends over from the dark side that is Bellsouth.

Vonage
works with clec's to provide them with phone numbers and access to area codes, etc. so if the clec (focal, xo communications) isn't in the area code/rate center, then
Vonage
can't offer it.

A few months ago when I first started looking into
Vonage
I could have sworn that they had a number in my area but now it is not showing up. Many areas are showing "Out of Stock" but this one has just disappeared. What are the odds of them getting more later if it is not showing up at all now?
