Post subject: Phone not ringing
I ordered the service, the kit arrived, I plugged it in and it all worked, woo-hoo! Then I realised that when people call me the phone doesn't ring. 8-(
Tech support tried changing the ringing voltage, waveform and frequency, I tried changing the phone handset. Nothing doing. So now I'm waiting for a second router to arrive, they've kindly sent me a returns authorisation, but I have to pay to send the old box back. Hmmph.
Anybody else managed to get a standard BA phone to ring!?

Not yet, typically it's the one adapter I don't have a spare of, isn't that always the way!?

Post subject: Update
The new router arrived, and was changed over complete with all cabling, PSU and so on. Unfortunately no change!
The problem has been escalated to Tier 2 Support, who have spent over an hour fiddling with ringing voltage and many other settings, but to no avail. They're now suggesting that the trouble must lie somewhere in my phones, despite all 3 working perfectly well on other lines.
Has anybody had a similar experience? If they can't make the phone ring, then I'll have to cancel the service at the end of the trial, a real shame because it seems nigh on perfect except for this.

I've just tried an "Enterprise Discovery", massive great desktop headset phone, I think they were also known as a BT Fusion. It doesn't ring, but it does give a little chirrup when you first call the line, it then lapses into uninterested silence.
Hmm, progress of sorts, any ideas?

Might be worth a new topic, but i've used a BT Decor 310 and a Panasonic kxtg 2740 with no problems.

Post subject: Looks like it's working now...
After much conversation with
Vonage
Technical and other phone experts today, I've managed to get the original phones ringing.
I've jury-rigged my own adapter, it takes the 2 wires from the RJ11 phone port on the Linksys router, and feeds them into a standard BT master socket, I then plug my phones into that. The result is they ring properly, woo-hoo!
So it's all down to the way the Linksys RJ11 to BT socket adapter works, it only uses two wires, some phones seem to be OK with this, others don't.
