The new FX-300 has many improvements and new features from the old FX-200
First it now has a phone port. The addition of a Phone port solves many problems for Vonage users. With the Phone port your pstn line and your Voip device are now fully integrated. From the attached handset you can make and receive both your pstn or Voip calls. The default connection is to the pstn line. There is barge in protection so if your are engaged in a pstn call any incoming Voip call will not be answered and the Voip call will go to voice mail. Second we have added caller ID (CID) function to the Transit In and Transit Out function. There is an invite list associated with the CID function. You simply input the phone numbers of either the Voip callers permitted to have access to your pstn line or the phone numbers of the pstn caller permitted to have access to your Voip line. So for example if a pstn caller’s number is inputted his call will be directly connected to your Voip line without ringing the attached phone.
One of our goals with this new product is to enable Vonage users to set up their own privately shared Vonage access numbers. The beta testers will be helping us to test this function. It will work like this. I have a Vonage service and a pstn line in Seattle. I would like to have access to the Vonage network for my mother in NY, my brother in Houston, my son in Hong Kong, etc. I purchase an FX-300 CID and post my request in this forum “Looking to share my private Seattle Vonage access # with those who have a private Vonage access number in NY, Houston, Hong Kong. When you find a match you simple input each others phone numbers into your FX-300s. In this model you do not give our your pstn number but to a select private group. Only the specific phone numbers inputted will have access to your Vonage line. You can monitor the use of your line by checking your acct call records.
Granted there are many issues still to sort out but we believe this can be of great value to Vonage users. |
