Im considering getting the unlimited calling ($25 plan, USD) plan. If I buy the phone adpater in a retail store, do I still have to pay the $30 activation fee?

Yes, of course. You should also know that a purchased phone adapter comes with only 30 days warranty. If you need to purchase the device for your own, that is your business. By signing up with Vonage online, you get to keep the router as long as you are a customer and if it breaks, they send you a new one without charge. Just something to consider.

Apparently, it seems, you can make a deal with Vonage and have those charges waived. Reebok's link has more detail.

Hmm! actually it doesn't look like such a bad deal from here. Apparently, I have been informed with some bad information. I have heard other stories regarding the Best Buy deal. Yours doesn't look so bad.

Judging by the link you showed us, briefly, the price was quite good. The Linksys RT31P2 usually runs from $80 to $90 dollars. Since it has hit the market with a Vonage backed marketing plan the price has either dropped to a reasonable level or a $50 rebate is offered. Personally, I'll take the discount.

Yeah, sorry, i edited the link out after I read your post.

Best Buy has an $80 adapter, but it doubles as a router.

So, anyone else buy the adpater themselves and know for sure if you pay the activation fee or not? ALso, I e-mail Vonage sales support.

Ok, I called tech support. They said I would still ahev to pay the activation fee. Sad So, i guess ill use the one Vonage provides.

EDIT: But searching through google, other people that went retail didn't pay the fee! Im so confused!!!!

Ok, so, im thinking ill get the adapter from bestbuy next time im in a real town (friday hopefully), and if I have to pay the fee still, i guess ill abort the set up and take the adpater back! Sound good? Eek
