Well i've now been running Vonage here in the UK for just over a week (yeah I know!) and i've just about got used to its weird way of doing certain things.
Anyway I though it would be interesting to see what people here in Blighty want out of their Vonage service. |

Ring back request doesn't seem to work, so yes that feature should be available.
Ring back request =
Dial friend They're engaged Hit 5 When they come off the phone you're called back. Pick up the phone Friends phone rings Voila - connection made |

The ringback features works fine with me
i couldnt get it to work at first as i thought it was the same as the BT setup but it depends on what Phone Adaptor you use.
I use the linksys rt3 p2 and the way that works is
U dial the number its engaged you then have to hang up and lift the receiver up again and dial # 5 then youll hear the dial tone again just hang up then your phone will ring when the engaged line is free.
but what i have noticed is that when your phone is ringing the other person phone is ringing too so if your not near your phone when it rings u back the other person will answer theirs and all they will hear is a beeping noise while yours is still ringing so they could hang thinking its a wrong number :s
but i think the ringback feature is actually a feature programed on the phone adaptor and its that which actually performs the ringback rather than the network.
i hope this makes sense lol its late and past my bedtime lol |

Hi my friends on the East side of the pond
Did Vonage.uk fix the UK "Ring, Ring, Pause, Ring, Ring" thingy or does your phone still ring like a USA Phone? |

Hi dconnor,
yeah they have fixed the ringing signal on outgoing calls to the uk standard Ring Ring pause Ring Ring
But i must say i prefer the phone giving the US ringing signal of Ring pause Ring on the incoming calls as i then know which phone is ringing out of the BT or Vonage.
Cheers Gordy |

on the uk, mobile rates are based on termination prices set by mobile operators themsewlves.
as long as the cost price to ring a mobile is between 12p and 23p at peak time i dont believe you will see bundled mobile pricing
nice idea though... |

In theory they could do an all-inclusive mobile tariff at any time, it's just how they manage the risk and whether they can create a package that has attractive enough pricing at a risk level that is acceptable to Vonage UK. The situation right now, based on mobile call termination charges and the number of Vonage UK subscribers, almost certainly makes it very difficult if not impossible for them to create an interesting offering.
The way they could do it is simple in theory but complex in practice (due to some sophisticated statistical analysis and mathematical modelling that would need to be done). For example, they offer a mobile-inclusive option for another £10 a month. For simplicity let's just assume that all termination charges are 10p a minute (clearly false, but just done to make the maths simple). So if every user makes 100 minutes a month of mobile calls then Vonage break even on the new product (ignoring their other overheads, clearly wrongly, but again just done for simplicity). If the average monthly mobile minutes for customers on the mobile-inclusive package is < 100 then they make profit, if > 100 then they make a loss. So, they could launch such a package today, it is just that they would probably have to set their break-even point so high that it wouldn't be an attractive offering.

Not for me!
Is it specific to the broadband/phone router? do I need to get Customer Services to change the way it rings?
This is the cause of much wife dissatisfaction.... |

I'd like the ability to, as BT subscribers currently have, to block specific phone numbers from calling me.
Sounds ideal for the web based Vonage controls. |
